Trigger Happy
While westerns aren’t as popular as they used to be, fans of cowboys do get the occasional treat! We’re simple people to please! Give us some wide, open plains, a good duel and maybe a pretty girl or two, and we’re happy. And while Trigger Happy hits most of our requirements, it does still have a few issues. Most of our faults with this RTG release are with its visuals. The gameplay is fun, and can be quite lucrative thanks to the progressive jackpot.
This slot was released in 2019, and shows off a stellar cowboy theme. The developer did their best to adjust the playing field and layout to fit the story. So the spin button is now a big barrel and the reels are made out of wood. Not to mention game’s logo sporting a cowboy hat!

And while we like the theme, we can’t deny this release looks rather basic. The background image shows off the two cowgirls, and the small town where our sheriff lives in. There’s also an absence of any interesting animations. The only time we have seen any ‘movement’ on the board is when you’re picking between two free spins.
Symbols are a mixture of playing card royals and traditional western-style icons. You’ve got your cactus, a pair of cowboy shoes, a saloon, a horse, and our handsome sheriff. The two cowgirls are both Wild, and appear in separate positions. A
silver sheriff’s star is the Scatter, and is used to activate free spins.
The user interface should be immediately familiar to any long-term gambler. The spin button sits in the middle, and you can easy adjust your wager from the main screen. If you need any information about the special features or payouts, you can access the paytable through the menu.
Trigger Happy has a medium variance, bleeding into high at times. It all depends what you’re really after. If you’re satisfied with hitting a decent prize and calling it a day, you’ll get a few hours worth of fun. Players intent on chasing after the progressive jackpot, however? They’ll have to cross their fingers and hope lady luck smiles for them!
Laying Down the Law
The slot is played on a 5×3 board with 30 fixed paylines. That means gamblers cannot turn some or all of them on or off to lower their minimum wager.
The developer does not give any information regarding the game’s RTP. This is common place for RTG, and that’s why we’re usually wary of their releases. There’s no absence of interesting slots for players to enjoy at their leisure. Unless the progressive jackpot is that tempting, we’d recommend playing a game whose RTP is above 96%.
Fortunately, changing your total bet is very easy in Trigger Happy. Adjust your bet per line until you reach the number you’re satisfied with! You can stake between $0.30 and $7.50 per spin. Great news for casual gamblers, less so for high rollers. This was likely done to prevent the progressive jackpot from reaching astronomically high numbers.
If you’re tired of spinning manually, this RTG release does have an Autoplay mode. You can only choose how many autospins will be played, however. Players cannot set win or loss limits.
Wins are only awarded if you collect three or more identical symbols in consecutive positions, from left to right.
Furthermore, the winning combination must follow one of the 30 fixed paylines.
The most valuable icon is the male sheriff, paying out 500 coins for a five-of-a-a-kind win. After him come the horse and the saloon. The boots and cactus share the same value, worth 200 coins for a five-of-a-kind win. Finally, playing card royals are split into two categories by value. A, K, and Q pay 120 for a five-of-a-kind win, and J, 10 and 9 pay 100 coins for the same amount.

There are two Wilds. The redhead only appears on the first and second reels. Meanwhile, the blonde only occurs on the fourth and fifth reel.
Collect three or more Scatters to win seven free spins. Before the extra turns are played, you have to choose between the redhead or blonde cowgirl. From here, there are four things that can happen, depending on which cowgirl you pick.
The redhead Wild will cover the first reel with Wilds
The redhead Wild will be able to substitute Scatters
The blonde Wild will cover the fifth reel with Wilds
The blonde Wild will cover the fourth AND fifth reel with Wilds.
Collect Three or More Scatters During Free Spins to Win Five More Extra Turns.
Finally, at the end of every Trigger Happy spin, there’s a chance you will win one of two progressive jackpots. There’s a minor and major progressive jackpot, and both are equally difficult to hit. The size of your bet doesn’t affect your odds of winning, so even casual gamblers have a shot at winning big!
