Hard work always pays off, regardless of how much peer pressure tries to make you believe otherwise. The story of Three Little Pigs was the first time many children were taught that concept, even if they were not aware of it.
This marks yet another fairy tale which was translated into slots, and we cannot say we are pleased. Games with child-friendly themes have already become such an issue that the UKGC had to act against it. Quickspin’s release does not help matters in the slightest.
The game was released in 2013, but you would not be able to see it immediately. Sure, it does not have the same bells and whistles, but it looks great for its time. All symbols appear drawn on top of wooden doors. These icons will be ripped out by blowing wind after they are part of a win. A nice callback to the fairy tale, and a great way to include cascading reels while maintaining immersion.
The layout is the same as all other Quickspin releases. The bold orange does clash with the background image, but that is a minor nitpick. Everything is very easy to read and use. We never needed more than two clicks or taps to find a setting or open the paytable.
The title has a high volatility, meaning you will see some fantastic wins with this Quickspin release. Thanks to the cascading reel system, the gameplay hardly suffers as a result. That said, even Big Bad Wolf has its moments when its nothing but dead spins.
Brick by Brick
The slot is played on a 5×3 board with 25 fixed paylines. That means players cannot lower their minimum bet by turning some or all paylines off. While you have less choices as a result, it also prevents newer gamblers from lowering their winning chances.
Big Bad Wolf had a fantastic RTP of 97.29%. This is well above even the current industry average of 96%.
The number of available paylines is always set at 25. You can choose your total bet from a set of pre-approved options in a drop down menu. The minimum wager is $0.25, while the maximum reaches up to $100 per single spin.
The Autoplay option has a simple and advanced mode. Simple just asks how many auto spins you want to play, up to 1000. Choosing advanced options, players can also set a loss limit or a single win limit.
Wins are granted by collecting three or more identical symbol adjacent to each other, from left to right, following one of 25 active paylines.
The most valuable icons are the bee-hive Wild, followed by the three pigs, and the pig doll. The lowest symbols are playing card royals: 10, J, Q, K and A.
Huffing and Puffing and Bringing the Bonuses!
Each time a winning combination is formed, it causes the cascading reels to fire. The existing icons are blown away by the wind, and new ones fall down to take their place. The empty spaces on top of the reels are covered by new symbols appearing from the top. This system allows multiple wins to be awarded for the price of a single spin.
Chaining multiple wins together using this system does more than just give cash prizes. After two, four or six consecutive wins, one, two, or all three pigs turn into Wilds. Their Wild status only lasts until the cascading wins do, after which, they reset back into being regular icons.
Three or more wolf Scatters rewards 10 free spins. During extra turns, collecting three or more Scatters again awards 10 more free spins. It also activates the Blowing Down the House bonus, that can reward extra spins and a multiplier.
The moon symbol can only appear on the fifth reel during free spins. Each time it does, the wolf comes one step closer to blowing down the house. Collecting three gives two more free spins, and destroys the wooden house. The wolf then moves on to the brick house, and needs three more moon icons to land to destroy it. If he is successful, the game gives you two more free turns, and a 2x multiplier on all following wins.
