Fire Dragon
Fire Dragon? We’ll be honest, when we first heard of a series of slots based on old Jackie Chan movies, we were skeptical. We have nothing against Chinese cinema, but the themes they cover usually aren’t our thing. Despite this, we found ourselves won over by RTG’s recreation of Fire Dragon!
The key factors to that were the graphics! Every so often, you get a cut in from the original movie, and some symbols even have their own animations.
Screenshots
Admittedly, other developers have done better with their 2019 releases. Still, the game is clearly an improvement over what RTG usually puts forward. We have not one, but two different background images, one that’s only visible during free spins!
We quite like the fact Fire Dragon’s reel are somewhat smaller than usual. It allows players to see the beautiful art used as the slot’s backdrop! The icons aren’t very impressive, but we like how some will show you clips from the movie. That said, the developer is still lacking when it comes to actual animations, both for symbols and the background image.
There aren’t any interesting icon designs to talk about. They’re split into playing card royals, or things and characters from the movie. If you haven’t watched the original Fire Dragon, you won’t really grasp any of the context. It’s just action scenes. They look cool at first, but after a few times, your brain learns to just gloss over them.
The layout is simple, clean, and very easy to use. You can change your total bet directly from the main screen, instead of having to use a menu. You can also set turbo spins, make use of Autoplay, or just smash the rock and spin manually!
The game’s variance is somewhere between medium and high. It offers balanced gameplay, which allows both big wins and low grinding times. You won’t have to mindlessly spin for two hours just to have a shot at a big win! Of course, that’s only true if you don’t plan on chasing after the progressive jackpot. If you plan on winning that, we hope your chair is comfy, because you’ll be there for a long time!
Fiery Gameplay
Fire Dragon is played on a 5×3 board with 20 flexible paylines. This allows gamblers to turn some winlines on or off in order to lower their minimum wager. Useful for casual players that want to lower their total bet. However, the less paylines are active, the chances of you winning are lower. It’s not a trade-off that works in your favor, so we recommend not using it.
Like all previous RTG releases, we do not have any RTP information for this slot. To our knowledge, this is because RTG leaves it to individual casinos to tune their games to their liking. Because of that, there’s nothing we can tell you about what kind of returns you can expect. Look into it with the casino you register in, or skip this developer all together. If you do decide to play, don’t settle for anything less than 96%.
At the very least, choosing how much you will bet on each spin is easy. Simply adjust the number of active winlines and your bet per line until you reach your wanted total stake. You can bet as little as $0.01 or as much as $200 for each spin. It’s a good betting spread, one that will please casual gamblers and high rollers alike.
If you intend to play this RTG release for a while, we recommend using Autoplay. Simply choose the number of spins to be played, and the slot will do all the work for you!
Collect three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions to win a cash prize! Winning combinations must follow one of the currently active paylines, otherwise gamblers won’t receive their prize.
The Jackie Wild is the most valuably icon, worth 3000 coins for a five-of-a-kind win. The man in sunglasses and the woman are the next most valuable symbol, followed by the jeep and the dog, and some farm tools. Finally, playing card royals are split into three categories by payout. A and K, Q and J, and 10 and 9. The mask Scatter does not pay anything at all.
Kickin’ Ass and Takin’ Bonuses
Collect three Scatters on the first, third and fifth reel to win ten free spins. It is possible to retrigger this bonus. Simply collect three more Scatters in the same position, while free spins are already being played.
The progressive jackpot can be won at the end of any spin. When this happens is completely random, and players have no control over it. Best we can tell, larger bets do not increase your chances of winning the progressive jackpot. Great news for casual gamblers who might be harboring great ambitions!
