Hillbillies Cashola
There aren’t a lot of software developers who are likely to draw their inspiration from the rustic existence of the Appalachian region and most providers will pick a more glamorous approach when designing a video slot. However, the simple, wholesome lifestyle that has often been celebrated in the country music served as an excellent basis of RTG’s 2015 Hillbillies Cashola – high volatility slot with 20 paylines and progressive jackpot.

This is not the Realtime Gaming’s first venture to the rural area of the United States of America.
In 2010, the provider launched Hillbillies, another high-variance slot with a featuring character that’s a spitting image of Dolly Parton. The 2015 release is basically a more polished version of the same slot, although still dangerously stereotypical and, according to some, borderline derogatory.
The new version has pretty much the same structure as its predecessor, featuring a family of Hillbillies as the high-value symbols and introducing the same set of bonuses. The only notable difference is that this time they are slightly less attractive than the original line up.

Hillbillies Cashola slot is a high volatility game with 5 reels, 3 rows, and 20 paylines which can be manually adjusted. The Hillbillies family members are the highest value icons that also act as Scatters and Multipliers. The Hound, the Pig, the Wooden Shack, and the Bottle of Moonshine are the medium value icons, while the combinations of A, K, Q, J, 10, and 9 symbols will produce the lowest payouts.
All symbols pay left to right, except for the Hillbillies – they will pay both ways, triggering 8 Free Spins when at least two of the Hillbilly family members land on any connecting reels. Payouts scored during the extra spins will be doubled and more rounds can be awarded if additional Hillbillies appear on the reels.
Apart from unlocking the freebies, Hillbillies also act as Wilds, replacing other icons and completing the winning combinations. Any winning string of symbols that contains the Hillbilly icons will produce a higher payout, which means that even the lowest value symbols could potentially become quite generous.
The progressive jackpot can be triggered at any spin, regardless of the betting level ($0.01-$100), and the total contribution to the pot will not go over 1.5%.
Hillbillies Bonanza!
During the Free Spins, the Grandpa, the Redhead, and the young Hick icons can re-appear, but this time only on reels 1, 3 and 5. When that happens, Hillbilly bonus will be activated, awarding extra prizes. When compared to the older version of the game, Hillbillies Cashola does not really bring anything new to the table. However, revisiting older releases and upgrading their visuals can sometimes be a good idea, especially when you have a decent product on your hands that, for some reason, slipped under the players’ radar.
It seems that the RTG recognized a potential in their original release and decide to reinvent it. Hillbillies Cashola may not be their best slot, but the multipliers, payouts, and the progressive jackpot still make it worth your time. Another advantage is that the slot does not officially impose any bet level requirements for the jackpot to be triggered, although the unspoken rule is that the higher bets might help.
