Dragon Orb
Asian mythology is one of the most commonly exploited genres in online gaming, especially by software developers that are focusing on video slots production. One of the main reasons behind the developers’ reluctance to abandon this tradition is the enormous visual potential that the theme provides, not to mention the elements of wealth and good fortune that seem to prevail in oriental folklore.
At the first glance, Dragon Orb is a typical slot with the Far-East background, but if you pay closer attention to the intro video, a bell may ring in a remote corner of your mind.

The slot begins with a short video prelude, during which a dragon grabs the orb. If you thought that this looks familiar, you are not mistaken. The image is strikingly similar to the covers of the Dragon Orb book series written by Mark Robson.
This clearly indicates that the slot is not just a random release with a “safe theme”. Somebody at Realtime Gaming was obviously inspired by Robson’s 2008-2009 saga, and, given that there are 4 installments, there may even be room for a slot sequel.
The slot was launched in 2017 and can be found in both real-cash and demo version in pretty much all online casinos that partner with Real Time Gaming. Although relatively new, the game was an instant success, thanks to the exceptional graphics and high payout potential.
How to steal the Dragon’s gold?
Dragon Orb has a classic layout. The game is played on 5 reels, 3 rows, and 10 paylines, producing medium volatility, with an average RTP of 95.4%. The symbols are closely related to the theme, starting with the high-value Golden Dragon and White Lotus. All combinations are paid left to right and wins of different lines will be added to the total payout.
The Dragon Orb itself is the Wild symbol, which means that it can replace all other icons and complete the winning combination. The Orb can only land on reels 2-4, expanding until all of the reel positions are covered.
The same symbol also acts as a Scatter, unlocking the Wild Re-spin. During the feature, the reels with the Dragon Orb are locked, while the “free” reels continue to spin. If additional Dragon Orb icons land and expand while the Re-spin is in progress, the feature will reset.
The number of bet ways is adjustable and the players can wager on a single line placing a minimum bet of $0.01. The maximum stake is $50 on all ten lines or $5 per line.
Game speed can be changed from regular to super fast for a more dynamic gameplay while Auto Play option will enable the players to set in motion up to 1000 continuous spins, which can be stopped manually, or by specifying the parameters that will discontinue the auto mode.
Randomly Triggered Dragon’s Treasure
In addition to the payouts that can be generated in the base game, Dragon Orb offers progressive jackpots which can be randomly unlocked at any stage of the game. The jackpot amount contribution will not exceed 1.5% of the RTP percentage and virtually any spin can unlock the Major or Mini jackpots displayed in the right upper corner of the game screen.
Simplicity and exceptional visuals would best describe this slot, although it has to be emphasized that the theme is too powerful and therefore deserving of more engaging bonus features.
The lack of in-games is partially compensated by the progressive jackpots that can be won on any spin, however, the slot does feel a bit incomplete, especially after such a promising intro.
